Casualties of War

As I've posted before I have a problem with rats here in Arizona.  They've gotten the wires on my car twice, my husbands once and now my son's car once as well just in the past year alone.  So we bit the bullet and got a pest service to help "control" the situation as best as possible.   The main problem we have is that we have 3 strikes against us:

1)We live next to a vacant lot
     2) We live across from a wash(where the water goes during a monsoon to avoid flooding, but is filled with trees and bushes and critters!)
     3) We have an unpaved driveway

So, it's almost like fighting a losing battle.  I'm more than willing to leave the critters be....as long as they leave our stuff alone.  But after two airconditioning units and three cars, the gloves have come off and it's now war.  There is no more Mrs. Nice Guy or would that be Gal? Anyway.......

The last time the pest guy came out (last week) he gave us a rat trap, only one as that is all he had at the time.  So last night I put some peanut butter in the little hole, place the trap under my car and hoped to find a warning sign for other the varmints in the area the next day.  When I checked the trap this morning I saw that is had been tripped, but there was nothing in it. So I left it there when I had to leave this morning figuring I would take care of it when I came back.  But as I backed out of the driveway I noticed that I in fact had "gotten" something......but it wasn't a rat or a mouse....it was a bunny!!!  I killed a bunny!!!  I'm a bunny-killer!!!   The bunny looked so peaceful just lying there, which gave me hope that it didn't suffer.  Needless to say this time I put the trap back, but put it in my engine, so as long as the bunnies stay away from my engine they should be okay.

Oh and before you say anything, we are keeping mothballs in our engines, alternating with drying sheets. I'll also be investing in some Peppermint oils and rubber snakes.  Yes, I said rubber snakes...rats don't like snakes and will stay away or so they say.  I'll also get a couple more traps for the other cars.  The only step after that is to some how rig my car so they get "shocked" if they touch it or hire a hit man!  I tried to play nice with them, but no more.

I am sorry my bunny friend that you had to be a casualty of war.  Blame the rats, they started it, I just have to finish it.

Palmolive Fresh Infusions Review

I received another Voxbox from Influenster last week to try out and review.  This time is was for Palmolive Fresh Infusions Dish Soap. Currently it comes in 3 different scents: Lime Basil, Lemon Thyme and Ginger White Tea.

I have a dishwasher, so that would lead most people to think that I don't wash my dishes by hand and they would be wrong.  You see I live in the desert, in Arizona, and the water here is well....terrible.  It has alot of calcium in it, alot!  So I have to clean my dishes before putting them in my dishwasher.

When my box arrived I was pleasantly surprised to find not 1 bottle, but 3 bottles of Palmolive.  One of each scent along with 5 coupons to share with friends and family.  I did have the flu when I first opened the box, so I couldn't smell anything when I popped their lids.  I was a little disappointed because I had hoped that I would be able to.

I had heard from others that the Lime Basil was the strongest scent, so I waited a couple of days and then filled up my sink with some soapy water and got to washing.  I have to say I agree, the Lime Basil is pretty strong.  If you like the scent of spices, you will probably like this one, me...not so much.  It was a bit overpowering for me and not pleasant.  It did do a good job of cleaning the dishes and a small amount went a long way.

A few days later I tried the Lemon Thyme.  The scent reminded me of the scent of Lemon Pledge and I really liked it.  It made me feel like things were clean with that scent.  It was not overpowering at all and I found myself enjoying doing the dishes....just don't tell my family! As with the Lime Basil, a small amount goes a long way.

Next it was time to try the Ginger White Tea.  I had left this one for last because I heard that this was a favorite scent for a lot of people.  It does have a nice scent and it's not overpowering at all.  I liked it, but I would consider it my 2nd favorite out of the bunch.  As before, a small amount goes a long way.

Now, I know if you are like me you would be concerned that the scent would stay on the dishes and ruin your food, but that is not the case at all. (I even smelled a dish to make sure!) It didn't have a greasy or slimy feel either while washing that you can sometimes get with a dish soap and it did make my hands feel smooth when I was done, which when you have hard water like we do here is nice.  Also, the shape and feel of the bottle is nice and easy to grasp when you have wet hands, so there is not much of a chance of dropping it in a sink full of soapy water and getting splashed.

All three scents did a great job in getting the dishes clean and make your kitchen smell nice.  I would definitely recommend these.  So thank you Influenster and Palmolive for giving me a chance to try these out.  Now I have a reason to look forward to doing the dishes.

*Disclaimer: I received these for free to review from Influenster and Palmolive.  All opinions are my own and factual*

Yummy perk from Klout

I got another perk the other day from Klout, a bag of chocolate balls of yumminess!  I don't know how else to describe them.  They come from Brookside Foods and currently in three different flavors: Dark Chocolate Acai with Blueberry, Dark Chocolate Pomegranate, and Dark Chocolate Goji with Raspberry.  I only wish I had gotten to sample all three flavors.

I was sent the Dark Chocolate Pomegranate.  Now, I'll be honest I'm not a fan of dark chocolate, so I usually only eat a little at a time when I do eat it.   So, as I sat down to start playing Halo Reach online...it's my "relaxation" time on Saturdays......I opened up the bag and popped a couple in my mouth while waiting fo the game to load.

OH MY!!!  These things are DELICIOUS!!  They remind me of a chocolate covered cherry like what I would get in my stocking at Christmas only sweeter.  I could NOT get enough of these and I am sad to admit that I sat and ate the whole bag while playing the game.

I should mention at this time that the bag said it had 5 servings.......so, I'll start my diet on Monday.  These bags of yumminess should come with a warning: Eat at the risk of getting a bigger waistline!  Also, there is alot of sugar in each serving(25g), so while the dark chocolate and pomegranate may be good for, the sugar....not so much.  You will definitely have to have some self-control if you have these in your house or only get them for a special occasion.  Don't say I didn't warn you.

I can honestly say that this has been THE BEST perk I have gotten from Klout so far!  So thank you Klout and THANK YOU Brookside for introducing me to these!  These will definitely become a special treat for me.

Edited to add:  I was going to take more pictures, but I enjoyed them so much I forgot and before I knew it they were all gone.

2012 earnings in review

I haven't talked about my earning sites in quite awhile and what better time to do it then at the start of a new year.  Especially in the context of what I earned.  After all they wouldn't be called "earning sites" if I wasn't earning.

I asked my hubby what he thought I had made for the year and he estimated about $750, he wasn't even close and was pleasantly surprised by how much I did manage to make.  I tallied up my earnings for last year and made over $1700!!  Granted, you can't live off that, but it sure does help.  Also, about 6-7 months of the last year I only did minimal amounts and didn't go all out, trying to earn all that I could.  I have several friends that have made double that or more from the various earning sites.

Swagbucks is my #1 earning site and I earned over 1/2 my monies at that site, bringing in $805 for the year in Amazon gift cards, Walmart Gift Cards and Paypal.  If I had really tried hard I could have probably even doubled that or more.

The secret is sbtvmobile, you can earn 50sb a day(roughly 50cents) from this alone giving you up to 1550sb a month or $15.  If you have a smartphone or tablet with WiFi you should be doing this.  And, if you can find 25sb more a day, you will guarantee yourself a minimum of $25/month.  Most days, it's not hard to find those between searches and dailies. But they have other things to earn points with: surveys, tasks, special offers, shop/earn, and more.

Also, right now they have "goal meter" like the one seen here.  If you can meet the daily goal set, you get "bonus points", both for the day you met and if you can meet a certain number of days in a month. Almost everything you do at the site counts toward your goal, there are very few restrictions.  If you can meet the whole month's worth of goals that can add up to over 500+ extra points.  But as you can see there are bonus points available for 1 week, 2 weeks and 3 weeks as well.  Every little bit helps.  I have to say though,  I've found myself to be competitive and try to make goal everyday.  Holidays and vacations make it even more challenging. LOL

My second favorite site is iRazoo.  I made $355 there.  Obviously, not as much, but I wasn't trying as much there either.  It's very similar to Swagbucks, although it does seem to have more offers to try and the payout on some of the offers are better.  The payout ratio on this one is 6pts = 1 cent, so cashing out can seem a little more daunting. ($5 = 3,000pts vs 450sbs at Swagbucks).  If you can earn 500pts a day here you'll easily make the $25/mo earning.

They recently added a monthly goal as well which is nice, again bonus points for making the goal.  Surveys, tasks and special offers count towards your goal, but searches do not(unlike Swagbucks).  Again, having a daily goal challenges me to meet it, which makes it easier to make the $25/mo.

Those were my top two earning sites and the sites I also worked the hardest at.  I have several other, but I only do those in passing.  Zoombucks, another site just like Swagbucks and iRazoo, with the same pay ratio as Swagbucks.  InstantGiftCards is yet another site, that is slowly creeping it's way up my favorites and my "to-do" list because you can cash out there for as little as $1.  Bing rewards is one that isn't a "big-earner" but it takes 2 minutes a day and it will be helping to pay for my Xbox membership.  InstantBucks is still another, although I've had a hard time getting into that one only because I'm not motivated to do 12 million sites. LOL

The only other site I made a decent chunk of money was Calyp, which has since gone out of business.  Mostly because I don't think they knew how to run a company(see previous posts here and here).  I did manage to make $417 from them, just from posting ads.  If they had ran their company better this could have been my best money maker with minimal effort, but alas it is no more.

So if you want to make an extra $25/50 month join me at Swagbucks and/or iRazoo or at any of the sites I've mentioned, just click the links on the side of this page.  Questions on getting started, just let me know.  Plus, both sites have very helpful Facebook pages.

Here's to a new and PROSPEROUS year in 2013.  I may even try a new site or two and bring those to you later in the year as well.

P.S. Lest you forget, this doesn't include all the free stuff I've gotten over the year as well from Influenster, Smiley360, HouseParty, Klout and numerous giveaways/contests as well as free samples.
